Wesley is a town in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, situated alongside the R72 Provincial Route, approximately 70 km south of Qonce (formerly King William’s Town).
The town is located on the banks of the Twecu, a tributary of the Chalumna River.
Wesley falls within the Ngqushwa Local Municipality and the Amathole District Municipality.
History
The town was founded by William Shaw of the Wesleyan Missionary Society in 1823. It was probably named after the founder of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, John Wesley.
