Ventersdorp is a town situated along the N14 National Route in the North West Province of South Africa.
The town is centrally located, making it easier to access more prominent urban towns such as Rustenburg, Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom, and Lichtenburg.
Ventersdorp is home to the township of Tshing and another smaller township, Toevlug.
Ventersdorp falls under the JB Marks Local Municipality in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality of North West Province.
History
Ventersdorp grew around a Dutch Reformed Church that was established in 1866. The town was named after Johannes Venter who owned the farm Roodepoort and the land the church was built on.
Ventersdorp was proclaimed as a town in June 1887. The Mill on the town was built by Richrd Carew Wilson in 1866.
