University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is a public research university with five campuses in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa.

Formed on 1 January 2004 after the merger of the University of Natal and the University of Durban-Westville, the University of KwaZulu-Natal operates from five campuses listed below.

  • Pietermaritzburg campus
  • Howard College campus
  • Westville campus
  • Nelson Mandela medical school
  • Edgewood campus

UKZN is overseen by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) under the National Government of South Africa.
