Thyspunt is a rocky stretch of coast situated in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, between the towns of Humansdorp (North), St. Francis Bay (East), and Oyster Bay(West).
Thyspunt lies south-east of Oyster Bay, approximately 12 km west of Cape St. Francis, and 18 km south of the town of Humansdorp.
Thyspunt is also located near the holiday town of St Francis Bay, as well as the popular surfing beach of Jeffreys Bay.
Thyspunt can be accessed from the N2 National road at Humansdorp and then via a gravel road to Oyster Bay.
Thyspunt falls within the Kouga Local Municipality and the Sarah Baartman District Municipality.
The Thyspunt coastal site is known for its unique natural and heritage qualities. It has been earmarked as a possible location for the development of a Nuclear Power Station (NPS) to be built by South African electricity utility Eskom.
