South African Airways Cargo (SAA Cargo)

South African Airways Cargo (SAA Cargo) is the airfreight division of South African Airways (SAA).

In turn, South African Airways is monitored by the Department of Transport (DOT) under the National Government of South Africa.

SAA Cargo provides integrated global distribution network and terminal services for purposes of cargo air transportation logistics.

The division’s integrated services offer global trade links between the major cities of South Africa and the regional markets covering Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, South America, United Kingdom and USA.

The operating model for SAA Cargo division is based on a combination of the line flights, purchase of capacity from strategic partner airlines and freighter service for regional transhipment. This is supplemented by an extensive global interline and road feeder service.

SAA Cargo operates in 5 Air Cargo Terminals in South Africa, located in O. R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA), Cape Town International Airport (CIA), King Shaka International Airport (KSIA), Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (formerly Port Elizabeth Airport), and King Phalo Airport (formerly East London Airport ‘ELS’).

SAA Cargo owns all the above terminals except the one in King Shaka International Airport that is leased from Dube TradePort Corporation (DTPC), a company owned by KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government. O.R. Tambo International Airport Terminal is the main hub.

The facilities of SAA Cargo are designed to handle all types of cargo suitable for airfreight. They also provide the company’s customers with a peace of mind as they are safe, accessible and within airport precinct.

SAA Cargo’s terminal operations in other regions are provided through partnering Ground Handling Agents who are well experienced. This provides SAA Cargo with an end to end route network that ensures rapid, safe, secured and on time delivery of much needed goods.
