Siyathemba is a black township next to the small mining and maize farming town of Balfour in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa, close to the R23 and R51 Provincial Routes.
Siyathemba township is part of the Dipaleseng Local Municipality in the Gert Sibande District of Mpumalanga province.
Residents of Siyathemba violently protested for service delivery protests in 2009 and 2010, they burned down the library in the Siyathemba township, burned the poles Eskom had planned to use in the area, looted foreigners’ shops, and burned down a municipal office.
