Seafield, also known as Kleinemonde, is a small coastal town in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, situated on twin rivers – the east and west Kleinemonde, and along the R72 Provincial Route.
Seafield falls within the Ndlambe Local Municipality and the Sarah Baartman District Municipality.
Kleinemonde is located approximately 16 km from Port Alfred, between East London and Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth).
The little town of Seafield (Kleinemonde) is miles of white sandy beach, intermittent sand dunes, serene tidal pools, and peace.
The Eastern Cape Province is one of the few parts of South Africa not yet spoiled by development and man’s need to place his stamp upon the world. Evening beach strolls in Seafield (Kleinemonde) are magical – the sand beneath your toes, the incredible effects of solitude, and the sound of the waves on the sand combine to bring harmony into one’s life.
Fishing, swimming, and boating up the two Kleinemonde rivers are some of the major pastimes when staying here, the banks crowded with indigenous vegetation and ancient cycads that only add to the already incredible atmosphere.
Time spent in Kleinemonde really is about getting away from it all. The town has little more than a good restaurant, a café for bare essentials, and a petrol station. Yet you haven’t far to go if it’s good shopping and eating you’re after. Seafield (Kleinemonde) is just 31 km from Bathurst, a quaint settler village, and Makhanda (formerly known as Grahamstown) is only 73 km away. And remember, Port Alfred, with its weekly market stalls and good shopping, is also just around the corner.
