Reitz is a small maize, wheat and cattle farming town located in the north-eastern region of the Free State province of South Africa.
The town was laid out 1889 and named after the former Free State Premier, Francis William Reitz.
It is located 50 km from Bethlehem and 58 km from Frankfort at an elevation of 1,630 metres (5,350 ft)
Reitz is also situated 300 km north-east of Bloemfontein (provincial capital) and 180 km south of Johannesburg.
Reitz has one of the largest maize silos in the southern hemisphere and also thrives as a wheat and cattle farming town. The majority of its residents speak Afrikaans.
Reitz is home to the black township of Petsana.
