Orlando Pirates overcame Sekhukhune United for the second time is less than a week, having handed them a 1 nill loss in the first leg of the 2026 MTN8 semi-finals played at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo.
The Sea Robbers broke the deadlock in the 36th minute through Boitumelo Radiopane when he received a pass from Kamogelo Sebelebele before turning inside the area and shooting into the bottom corner from a tight angle.
The Soweto giants doubled their lead in the 62nd minute when Radiopane found himself through on goal before passing the ball to an unmarked Appollis, who found the back of the net with a calm finish, despite on-rushing defenders to the goal line.
The game saw some drama later in the second half when Babina Noko’s head coach, Cedric Kaze, was shown a red card by referee, Philangenkosi Khumalo. This was after coach Cedric had a brief comfrontation with the fourth official, Akona Makalima, who wasted almost 8 minutes preparing the substitutions board. Infact, Orlando Pirates’ young striker, Radiopane, had to return to the pitch while cramping because The Bucs had played closed to 3 minutes with 10 men.
Meanwhile, Mthetheleli Mthiyane won the Man of the Match award for his stellar performance in the midfield.
