Nyakallong is a township built around the mining industry. The township is located in the gold-mining town of Allanridge, in Matjhabeng Local Municipality in the district of Lejweleputswa in the Free State province.
Nyakallong township is situated about 3.4 km south-east of Allanridge, 13.3 km north-west of Odendaalsrus, 29 km north-west of Welkom, and 172 km north-east of Bloemfontein (the Provincial Capital).
Nyakallong is faced with high poverty rates and overflow of polluted water from dams like the Voelpan Dam, which is used to store waste from the nearby Harmony Target 1 mine. This makes living conditions hazardous for the residents.
