Northern Cape Department of Social Development

The Northern Cape Department of Social Development is part of the Northern Cape Provincial Government in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa.

The mission of the Northern Cape Department of Social Development is to ensure the provision of comprehensive social protection services against vulnerability and poverty within the constitutional and legislative framework, and create an enabling environment for sustainable development.

The Department further aims to deliver integrated, sustainable and quality services, in partnership with all those committed to building a caring society.

The strategic priorities of the Northern Cape Department of Social Development are:

  • Caring for and protecting vulnerable groups, especially children, women and people with disabilities
  • Strengthening families and communities
  • Transforming social relations, with a specific focus on gender and victim empowerment
  • Strengthening institutional capacity to deliver quality services
