The Northern Cape Arts and Culture Council is a public entity owned by the Northern Cape Provincial Government through the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
The objects of the Northern Cape Arts and Culture Council are, within the Province, to:
- Address historical imbalances in the provision of infrastructure and funding for the promotion of the arts iin the Northern Cape province of South Africa
- Develop and promote the arts and encourage excellence in performance and expression in art works and forms
- Encourage and provide opportunities for persons to practice the arts
- Promote the appreciation, understanding and the enjoyment of the arts
- Encourage and recognise innovations and creativity in all art works and forms
- Promote the general application of the arts in the community
- Uphold and promote the right of persons to freedom in the practice of the arts
- Provide financing for facilities where art and cultural activities may be practiced
