Mvezo is a small village situated on the banks of the Mbashe River in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, approximately 52 km south-west of Mthatha and 198 km north-east of East London.
The village is famously known as being the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, a former president of South Africa, whose family serves as its chiefly dynasty. It is also the location of the Nelson Mandela Birthplace Museum. However, Nelson Mandela grew up in Qunu village, which is situated 23 km to the north-east.
Mvezo village falls within the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality and the OR Tambo District Municipality.
