Makwarela is a township situated along the R524 Regional Route, near Thohoyandou, in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. It is one of the townships which were built in Limpopo during the apartheid period.
Makwarela township is part of the Thulamela Local Municipality within the Vhembe District Municipality of Limpopo Province.
