About Majwemasweu Township
Majwemasweu township is situated on the R703 Regional Route and R30 Provincial Route, approximately 58 km north-east of Bloemfontein (the provincial capital) in Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality.
During the apartheid era, Majemasweu was where the Black people of the town of Brandfort lived.
It is also historically known as the place where Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was banished for nearly a decade by the apartheid government. Today, her former house and the bombed clinic have been restored and converted into the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Museum, which was officially established in 2022.
