Limpopo Department of Education (LDoE)

The Limpopo Department of Education (LDoE) is the department of the Limpopo Provincial Government mandated to provide quality education to all learners within the Limpopo Province of South Africa.

The vision of the Limpopo Department of Education is to achieve excellence in provisioning of innovative quality basic education.

Their mission is to achieve this by providing quality and innovative education programmes for learners across all grades through excellence, professionalism, innovation and integrity.

The Limpopo Department of Education will obtain excellence in providing innovative quality basic education by:

  • Delivering quality education in an innovative, effective and efficient way;
  • Giving maximum Monitoring and support to districts, circuits and schools;
  • Continuous development of educators and officials;
  • Maximizing accountability;

The strategic goals of the Limpopo Department of Education are to:

  • Contribute to the reduction of illiteracy in adult learners to enable them to access further learning and employment opportunities

Background

The Limpopo Department of Education has a head office situated in Polokwane, the heart of Limpopo Province. It consists of ten (10) Educational District Offices and 134 Circuit Offices.

It has approximately 4,015 public ordinary schools, accommodating over 1,500,000 learners.

The Head office of the Limpopo Department of Education consists of four branches headed by Deputy Director Generals, 12 Chief Directorates headed by Chief Directors and 33 Directorates headed by Directors. The ten (10) Educational Districts are headed by Directors.
