KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZNERA)

The KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZNERA) was established in May 2024 by the amalgamation of the KwaZulu-Natal Liquor Authority and the KwaZulu-Natal Gaming and Betting Board. This public entity is owned by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.

The legislative mandate of the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority is to provide for the regulation and economic empowerment of the liquor and gambling industries in the province of KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.

The legal mandate of the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority is to implement both the KZN Liquor Licensing Act 6 of 2010 (Liquor Licensing Act) and the KZN Gaming and Betting Act of 2010 (Gaming and Betting Act).
