The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is the department of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government mandated to provide quality basic education to all children of compulsory school going age within the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa.
The above mandate requires the Department to monitor the standards of the provision, delivery and performance of education annually or at other specified intervals across the province with the objective of assessing compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa in terms of access to quality basic education.
The vision of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is to be an innovative hub for quality teaching and learning that produces learners developed to exploit opportunities for lifelong success.
The mission of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is to facilitate quality teaching and learning in a conducive classroom environment every day.
