KwaMbonambi, KwaZulu-Natal

KwaMbonambi is a small town situated along the P425 Main Road, just off the N2 National Route in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. The town lies in the centre of sugar and timber-producing areas.

KwaMbonambi is located approximately 24 km north of Richards Bay, 27 km south-west of Mtubatuba, and 33 km north-east of Empangeni.

The town’s name is Zulu and means ‘place of the Mbonambi’, referring to a tribe that lived there.

KwaMbonambi is the main town and administrative centre/seat of the uMfolozi Local Municipality, which is part of King Cetshwayo District Municipality.
