Club career
Ubuntu Cape Town
Jody Ah Shene joined the football academy of Ubuntu Cape Town Football Club at the age of 7. He spent nine full years at the club.
At the age of 18 in 2023, Ubuntu Cape Town F.C. sold Jody Ah Shene to Cape Town City F.C. to help continue his development.
Cape Town City Football Club
On Wednesday 1 February 2023, Cape Town City F.C. signed Jody Ah Shene from Ubuntu Cape Town F.C. for an undisclosed transfer fee.
The forward was quickly intergrated into the Cape Town City FC Reserve (Under 23) team who played in the DStv Diski Challenge at the time.
On Saturday 30 March 2024, at the age of 19, Jody Ah Shene made his Premier Soccer League (PSL) debut against Kaizer Chiefs coming on as a substitute in the 59th minute to replace Khanyisa Mayo at Athlone Stadium in Athlone, Cape Town.
A few days later on Tuesday 2 April 2024, Jody Ah Shene was named in the starting 11 against Sekhukhune United in the PSL, where he scored his first senior goal for the club in the 23rd minute.
On 24 April 2024, Jody Ah Shene was nominated for the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season.
In September 2025, South African Premiership club Mamelodi Sundowns reached an agreement with Cape Town City for the transfer of Jody Ah Shene for an undisclosed transfer fee. However on the transfer deadline day, Monday 22 September 2025, Jody turned down a move to the Brazilians.
International career
Jody Ah Shene has already collected silverware, winning the U20 COSAFA Cup as well as the Golden Boot at the tournament.
Jody Ah Shene also played a key role in South Africa’s U20 Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Egypt
He has also been named in the U20 squad to play in the 2025 FIFA World Cup in Chile. The squad also includes Mamelodi Sundowns players like Thato Sibiya, Gomolemo Kekana, Siyabonga Mabena, and Kutlwano Lethlaku.
