Healdtown is a small settlement in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, located about 10 km north-east of KwaMaqoma (formerly Fort Beaufort) and 15 km north-west of Alice (officially renamed Dikeni).
Healdtown falls within the Raymond Mhlaba Local Municipality and the Amathole District Municipality in an area that was formerly part of the Ciskei.
Former South African president, Nelson Mandela, completed his schooling in Matric in Healdtown.
Healdtown was established in 1853 by minister John Ayliff and named after the treasurer of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society, James Heald, who had contributed towards a training institution for teachers, founded there in 1867.
