Grootmis is a settlement situated near the mouth of the Buffels River and alongside the R355 Regional Route in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa.
The settlement’s name Grootmis is Afrikaans and means “large mist”. The settlement was given this name because the fog hangs over the coastline for days at a time.
Grootmis falls within Nama Khoi Local Municipality and the Namakwa District Municipality.
