Groblershoop is a small town situated on the banks of the Orange River in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, at the intersection of the N8 and N10 National Routes.
Groblershoop falls within the !Kheis Local Municipality and the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality.
Groblershoop is the main town and administrative centre/seat of the !Kheis Local Municipality. It is also a farming centre in the Orange River Valley east of Upington.
Groblershoop was founded in 1914 on the farm Sternham, but was renamed in 1939 after Piet Grobler, a former Minister of Agriculture. The region became more developed after the construction of the Boegoeberg Dam and water channels in 1929.
Known as the gateway to the Green Kalahari, the Groblershoop region is a major wine-producing area.
