Derby is a small town situated in Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality under the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality of the North West Province of South Africa.
The town lies about 17 km east of Koster, 60 km south-west of Rustenburg, and 117 km west-north-west of Johannesburg.
Derby began as a refuge for destitute people. It was initially laid out on portions of the farms Rietfontein and Vlakfontein.
Derby was named after the British Secretary of State Lord Derby.
