The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is a national department under the national government of South Africa.
The mission of the Department of Home Affairs is the efficient determination and safeguarding of the identity and status of citizens and the regulation of immigration to ensure security, promote development and fulfil our international obligations.
The strategic outcome-orientated goals of the Department of Home Affairs are to:
- Establish a Border Management Agency and build a comprehensive, secure National Identity System, which will contribute significantly to reducing fraud and preventing identity theft
- Facilitate the importation of skills that are critical to ensuring economic growth and the creation of jobs
- Provide an efficient, effective and development-orientated public service by being the custodian of the identity and status of citizens
