Geography and history
Dealesville is situated at the intersection of the R64 Provincial Route and R703 Regional Route. The town is located approximately 67 km north-west of Bloemfontein, 55 km south-east of Boshof, and 109 km east of Kimberley (Northern Cape‘s capital) along the R64 road.
The town of Dealesville was laid out on the farm Klipfontein which was originally owned by John Henry Deale, who the town was named after. The town was proclaimed a township in 1899 and achieved municipal status in 1914.
The area has numerous salt pans as well as many natural mineral springs. Some of the springs have been developed and offer relief to sufferers of certain ailments.
Dealesville is a service centre to its local residents, providing only the most essential services. The economy in the rural area is focused on agriculture.
Livestock farming and crop farming activities are most common in the area, although salt works on a small scale also exist at some of the numerous salt pans in the area.
A Voortrekker Monument was erected in honour of the pioneers Voortrekkers. Florisbad Archaeological Site is famous for the Florisbad skull discovery.
