Cala is a town located on the Tsomo River and along the R410 Regional Route in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, approximately 28 km south-west of Elliot (also known as Khowa).
The town’s name, Cala, is Xhosa for ‘adjacent to’, referring to its situation west of the Drakensberg, which here extends north and south.
Cala falls within the Sakhisizwe Local Municipality and the Chris Hani District Municipality. Cala is the main town and administrative centre/seat of the Sakhisizwe Local Municipality.
