Boitumelong is a township situated in Bloemhof along the N12 National Route in the North West Province of South Africa, close to the Vaal River on the Free State provincial border.
The township’s name Boitumelong means ‘place of happiness’, referring to the fact that the residents were happy to move to the new township.
Boitumelong falls under Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality of the North West Province.
After the end of apartheid in 1994, people who were living in the nearby farms started to flock to Boitumelong for permanent residence.
The township has since then expanded and is now divided into 12 sections and still developing with big businesses established near the location.
