About Aberfeldy
Aberfeldy is situated in Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District of the Free State province.
The farm Aberfeldy in the Orange Free State had a post office known as Elandsrivierbrug. When the railway reached the farm in 1902, the new Orange River Colony administration preferred the Scottish name “Aberfeldy” to the previous Afrikaans name. By 1905, the post office name was Anglicised into Elands River Bridge.
Aberfeldy is located approximately 309.1 km from Bloemfontein, the provincial capital and judicial capital of the country.
Aberfeldy is also located approximately 46.5 km (a 36-minute drive) west of Phuthaditjhaba, the seat of the Local Municipality and District, via the R57 Provincial Route.
Aberfeldy is also located approximately 20 km (a 22-minute drive) northeast of Kestell via the R57 Provincial Route.
Aberfeldy is also located approximately 33.1 km (a 28-minute drive) west of Harrismith via the N5 National Route.
